Diabetic Woman Sues Café for Serving Sugared Coffee

It's kind of iconic to see a Ford Crown Victoria with a rack of red and blue lights on top of it. However, it seems like law enforcement agencies are also looking for ways to cut back on the fuel bill. While many people started to save fuel by carpooling or by biking/walking, police departments can't necessarily implement these options. A possible solution - hybrid police cruisers.

And though a deep fried turkey is very delicious, and not as greasy as it sounds, the actual frying can be extremely dangerous. According to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), nearly 4,300 fires occur on Thanksgiving causing 15 deaths and almost $27 million in property damage, many of them due to deep frying accidents.

Just a few weeks ago my boyfriend Walt bought a brand new car. And like most car buying experiences, getting from old car to new car wasn't exactly a smooth ride. You see, Walt bought his old car, which served the noble purpose of getting a starving college student back-and-forth to class, 10 years ago from an elderly woman who only drove it to church once a week. Buying a car from an old lady is much different than buying one from a shark--I mean car salesman.

It looks like the real life of Captain Jack Sparrow isn't quite as glamorous as we may have thought. Real life pirates have increased their activity in the Gulf of Aden, the ocean between Somalia and Yemen, causing the costs to insure shipping and goods to increase. Highlighting this increase in activity, a ship carrying 33 Russian tanks and ammunition was seized by pirates last week. The pirates are demanding a $20 million ransom for the cargo and crew--even with the destroyer USS Howard, a U.S. submarine and various other naval vessels, and the Russian warship Neustrashimy (Intreped) anchored nearby.

To culminate the end of my getting married and how it affects your car insurance, renters/homeowners insurance and life insurance series, I thought I would inform everyone about wedding insurance. For my wedding, Jackie and I are lucky that we have some contingency plans already in place. So even though we are getting married outside, the winery we are getting married at can accommodate an inside wedding should it rain. However, even if our wedding site didn't have this contingency plan, I'm not sure I see the value in wedding insurance.

What if our patriotism was measured by the type of car we drove? Would we be more patriotic if we drove American cars? What would that say about our political party affiliation? According to data from InsWeb.com's customers, it looks like people living in Republican "Red" states could be considered slightly more patriotic than those who live in Democratic "Blue" states, since American cars are more common ( 66% market share) in Red states vs. Blue states (56% market share).

According to the Department of Transportation, Americans drove 4.7%, or 12.2 billion, fewer miles in June 2008 than June 2007, and the trend is likely to continue. So instead of packing up the kids and heading out for a cross country trek to Wally World like the Griswolds, take advantage of the summer recreation options right under your nose. Hit up the local lake or river, historic city center, local amusement or water park or city/county/state fair.
