Insurance for Flying Cars?

OK, I admit it, I don't think the Geicos and Progressives of the industry are calling emergency board meetings to figure out how to underwrite the flying cars of the future, but it is an interesting question. And there's at least one flying car getting closer and closer to reality.

 

The Terrafugia Transition is just one of a number of flying cars that are currently being developed, but it seems to be the closest to production. The company says it is still on track for a 2011 roll out.

 

So, are we talking airplane insurance here? Car insurance? Some kind of hybrid? Only time will tell...
