Are Running Shoes the Enemy?
|
There's a theory out there among runners and other athletes that is quickly gaining popularity: Maybe the reason we get injured so often while running is that our running shoes are messing up our technique?
Here's the basic premise: When you wear a running shoe, you can't feel your feet in the same you can when you're barefoot. So, you can run with bad form and not really feel it.
The theory is that if you run barefoot, or with something like Vibram's Five Fingers, you have to run with correct form--basically more on the balls of your feet then on the heel.
