Does Your Small Business Need Weather Insurance?
|
If your business relies on Mother Nature, you may want to consider weather insurance.
The idea of weather insurance may seem silly, but temperature and precipitation are vital to many businesses. After all, how many cars do you see at a carwash on a rainy day, or swimmers at a water park on a balmy spring afternoon?
According to the Commerce Department, roughly one third of the U.S. economy is affected by weather. Ski resorts, restaurants with patios, raft rental outlets, golf courses--their success depends directly upon weather conditions. And in this economy, a few bad days of poor weather could spell disaster for a struggling business.
That's why a former Google employee created WeatherBill, a leading provider of weather insurance in the United States. It helps protect businesses against the unpredictability of weather, and prides itself on giving the business owner flexibility.
Premiums and payouts depend on the amount of coverage and options business owners choose. For instance, if you own a golf course and can't afford more than five days of rain in spring, set WeatherBill to begin paying out on the sixth day of rain and you'll automatically be mailed a check if the threshold is passed. And since payouts are automated, there are no claim forms and a minimal amount of paperwork.
Many small business owners say it provides more than just financial protection--it also provides peace of mind.
With experts predicting that climate change could make weather more unpredictable in the coming years, could weather insurance become a necessity for small business owners?

It seems correct to consider the type of business, but also the type of weather insurance. There are many different kinds of weather insurance and programs. Some programs complement government programs, so it's best to consider your type of business and what you'd like to protect. For example, a tree farm and a golf course may consider different insurance programs.
i agree but it depends to our small business. if our business are relies in the weather we can do the weather insurance.
