Abandon Ship!

February 23, 2009 | By: Matt | Comments ( 0 ) | Posted in: Offbeat

Financial strain is getting to everyone these days. But apparently the stress for some has been going on since March 2008. See, that's when a man sank his boat in the Puget Sound. Apparently, the Seattle man got mad at the engine troubles his boat was having, causing the man to lose his temper and take a hammer to the engine and to drill a hole in the bottom of the yacht.

Three days after the sinking of his yacht, the former skipper filed an insurance claim claiming that the boat sank due to unknown circumstances. Things were fine and dandy until the Washington State Department of Natural Resources salvaged the vessel because they thought it might cause an environmental issue. After the boat was salvaged, it became apparent that the boat was deliberately sunk.

The man has since been charged with filing a false insurance claim.
