Toyota announced a recall today of over 1.3 million cars, including 134,900 model year 2006 and 2007 Yaris cars sold in the United States. According to Toyota, in severe front-end crashes the driver and front passenger seatbelts are at risk of causing a foam pad in the car to ignite.

Toyota states that there are no reported cases of the foam pad catching fire in the US, but one case was reported in Japan. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved in this recall.

Owners of the Yaris will be receiving letters next week about the recall, and will need to bring their cars into their local Toyota dealer for the approximately hour-long repair.
